Sharon is an Addiction Specialist, accredited as an International Certified Addiction Counselor and a Certified Intervention Professional. A ‘seasoned veteran’, Sharon has been working in the addiction field since 1990. She developed resilience, compassion and empathy working on the ‘front lines’ in harm reduction on the Vancouver Downtown Eastside, in a women’s federal correctional facility and with the Intensive Child Care Resource for ‘at-risk’ youth. Currently, she is on the clinical team at a Residential Addiction Treatment Centre, co-facilitating the family program and providing after care services.
Sharon’s approaches include Reality Therapy, 12 Step Facilitation Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT and Satir Transformational & Systemic Therapy. She is proficient in the Johnson, Systemic and ARISE Intervention Models.
The promotion of healthy, loving relationships is the most rewarding aspect of Sharon’s work. She draws on her personal experience and spiritual principles to energize her work with the gratitude, joy, dignity and freedom that recovery promises.
Since 2007 Sharon has been working as an Independent Practitioner and associate of The Crossroads Group in West Vancouver, British Columbia. She works with individuals, couples and families and offers a full range of Addiction Services, including Counseling, Recovery Coaching, Intervention Services, Continuing Care Programs, Relapse Prevention, Educational Workshops, Assessment, Referral, Spiritual Transformation, Inspirational Speaking and Consultation.
